Welcome to our Forever Trees Native Nursery!

We took over running our small native plant nursery in spring of 2023. Located at the Cable Bay Adventure Park, the nursery was originally established to supply locally sourced trees to the Wakapuaka Mouri Restoration Project - a 5 year Ministry for the Environment funded project to help restore the Wakapuaka Valley catchment.

The nursery is still tiny, but we have expanded to grow a range of native restoration species for reforestation, wetland planting, the re-establishment of estuaries, farm planting and urban forests.  The bulk of the plants we grow are native reforestation species, however we are also growing some of our region’s threatened species and tree ferns.

• Local Seed Source - We source our seed locally (mostly from the wild Wakapuaka catchment and North Nelson area) to grow plants that have adapted over time to grow here in our region.  We keep careful records so that we can tell you where your plants have been sourced. 

• We strive to produce quality, hardy native plants - with tight root balls for ease of planting.

• We are Off-Grid and working towards being 100% electric (with no burning of fossil fuels)

• No Single Use Plastic Plant Trays/Pots - All of our plants are grown in hard plastic reusable cell trays and otherwise pre-used plant pots, root trainers and cell trays ~ which we use again, and again and again!

• No Peat potting mix.  We do not use peat in any part of our production.
